Shirley's Talent Show.

SHIRLEY'S FABULOUS VARIETY SHOW - 10th, 11th and 12th Oct

What a great night of entertainment!  Wonderful to see all the familiar faces singing and dancing their hearts out!  John Kilby made a great Master of Ceremonies; Ron Forbes brought a tear to our eyes as he sang 'Sonny Boy'; John Towson and Mike Allan did their rendition of 'There's a hole in my bucket'; Shirley and Laura were a 'Couple of Swells'; Gale O'Byrne recited a couple of Joyce Grenville monologues; David Gregory played his instrument wrapped around his neck (it wasn't a mouth organ but I can't think if the name of it!); Ron Forbes and Richard Tinley were 'Strolling' across the stage.  Shirley (as Topol) appeared on stage with a full beard!! and sang and danced 'If I were a rich man...' (we fell about laughing....). Then there was the wonderful Chorus Line accompanied on the piano by a lady from Syston (sorry there were no programmes so didn't catch her name - but she was marvellous!)and Tim Lacey on the drums.  The Captain of the Girls' Brigade and her Officer and 10 girls entertained us.....and finally the Holy Cross Gospel Singers ended the Show.  The Show could not have happened without the enthusiasm of Shirley Harrison with Claude's help, and Myles Harrison and other family members.  The ladies serving refreshments at the Interval; Deborah Kilby who sold tickets - forgive me if I have left anyone out!  It was a wonderful way of getting young and old(er) people together; the enjoyment of the cast was infectious.  What more can I say?  A thoroughly enjoyable evening....Eileen Molesdale and Sylvia Cooper
