Home Churches Claremont Street 3rd Sundays at Claremont - Harry's Baptism
PDF Print E-mail

On the third Sunday of the month we’re experimenting with a more informal and interactive style of worship at Claremont Street.  The first of these was the baptism of Harry Robert Ho-jing Tang.  Mandy, his mum, writes….

Harry’s Baptism at Claremont was a lovely family occasion. Rachel designed the service to involve everybody in the preparation of items to be used in the Baptism.

In a relaxed atmosphere we all worked on decorating a basket (with flowers and paper doves) to hold the water, decorating a candle to be lit for Harry and filling a card with messages for him. We sang hymns accompanied by variously; the piano (played by Marlene), the guitar (played by Jane, the children’s worship leader) and drum (played by Jack, the ever enthusiastic  5 year old brother of Harry!). It was a special day for us and I am grateful to everybody who helped make it so.  Although Harry is too young to remember what happened, he now has the candle and card to look at when he grows up. From comments after the service I think everyone at Claremont is looking forward to participating again in this new style all age worship.
