The first evening meeting for the new Just Walk Across the Room programme took place in Birstall. It was held in the home of Joan Pearson and was led by Rev Rachel Parkinson, (this group will normally be led by Eileen & Pete Molesdale, who were unavailable this time). The session was attended by six people all from Birstall.
We started off watching a video clip with Bill Hybels (the founder of Just Walk Across the Room) talking about the programme and discussing about who he would like to spend time with and learn from, one of the examples used was, if you were a golfer, you would more than likely like to learn from Tiger Woods. Following this, Rachel asked us to think about who we would like to meet and learn from, this prompted lively light hearted discussion.
The session continued with another video, with Bill Hybels, describing how he started to chat to his son's soccer coach and stay behind to help him tidy up. This led over a long period of time to the coach finally finding Christ at the centre of his life (very shorten version of events.)
We then shared about who had walked across the room to us in our lives, who had helped us on our Christian journey.
This was a warm and friendly event, where we felt free to share as much or as little as we wanted to, knowing what was said in the room, stayed in the room.
If you are not sure about attending a session, I can only say give it a go, you might be surprised.
